Helping artists achieve success
Helping artists achieve success
The stimulation of elements to create theater and structures in which arts and artists can develop.
We are establishing a network and database of theatres, theatre cafe venues as well as other theatre support organisation and NPO's.
An innovative production house that combines Petronel Baard and her personal performances with all the projects stemming from TEO.
As part of our vision, we develop spaces into performance venues even if just for an evening. In the face of the growing online presence of theatre happenings, we are hosting shows for various artists and organisations from and through our Facebook Page and website.
Mocca is a direct development out of our work with TEO. It is the governing body for all things creative in the greater Mossel Bay area, a cultural forum and a networking organisation for all cultural practitioners and institutions in the greater Mossel bay.
A special culture of informal gatherings where people are invited to either share a plate or bring a full picnic and enjoy a special performance and venue.
Artists perform for the age-old tradition of the hat
"When I started touring in 1999, I realised a few things:
The only person who jumps up from behind a bush for you, is probably a traffic officer. Lol.
Meaning - opportunities don't always come knocking. You must create them.
South Africa has a rich culture of intimate theatre as in Afrikaans culture where coffee house concerts is an old tradition. As indeed in the world!
Our "Oer Moer Culture" started from the inspiration of French cabaret singers who would sing for their supper. To think of the fine singers you could find in a pub...in that aspect. Still today.
Intimate spaces that can be transformed to a cabaret venue for a night and a network of this, became my dream somewhere between Paternoster and the Klein Karoo and Gauteng.
At this point you can put me almost anywhere with very little help from lights or stage, and I can do a show of some sort. Impromptu.
The trick has always been to get what quality equipment and exposure we have in city into our rural areas too and build a network of at least reasonably well-equipped spaces throughout our vast landscape."
- Petronel Baard, founder
We establish Theatre Cafe Networks to also support artists with guidance and help.
Spaces that not only serve as a platform physically, but help artists connect and prosper ... in that lies the betterment in future for our communities.
I am only one person, but I know many passionate and beautiful people with the same heart. I find them when we make music and art together.
